Dave's Savory Cheddar Sausage Balls

Looking for savory appetizer ideas to take to your next holiday party but don't want all the carbs? This healthier version of Sausage Balls is sure to please. This rich and savory little goodie is packed with heart healthy grains and a flavor punch!


  • 3 cups FlapJacked Buttermilk Protein Pancake Mix
  • 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup raw (uncooked) HOT ground sausage (don't worry, this doesn't make them spicy)
    (Optional: add a tsp red pepper flake to kick it up a notch)


  • Serving Size:   1 sausage ball
  • Servings:   24
  • Calories:   178
  • Fat:   11g
  • Carbs:   8g
  • Fiber:   2g
  • Sugar:   2g
  • Protein:   11g


  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until combined and sticking together. Form 24 equal balls (about 1-1/2") and place onto a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake 9 minutes, flip and bake another 9 minutes.
  • Remove from pan immediately and serve warm. ENJOY!
